The performers list has just been released and the organizers have outdone themselves this year. A list of performers can be found at the following link:

I hope some of you can make it. It will be an intense week of outstanding shows.

On July 5, appearing at the same time on different stages (it's an outdoor festival) will be Steely Dan, Zappa Plays Zappa, and Richard Thompson.. Preceding them that night, and also playing at the same time on different stages, will be Adrian Belew and Lucinda Williams.

The very next night, also at roughly the same time on different stages, we have Johnny Winter, Primus, The Wailers, and Widespread Panic.

Oh man, this is sick.

The thing takes place over several weeks, including weekends and weeknights. Also on the bill on various nights are: Sonny Landreth, Walter Trout, Robert Randolph, Boz Scaggs, Canned Heat, Dr. John, Brian Wilson, Allan Toussaint, and many many more. It's freakin' nuts.

Is it all "blues"? Nah. Is it the most diverse and rich selection of quality music you're likely to hear in one place in Canada? Probably.

Want to see some kick ass guitar palying??!!!! Johnny Winter, Sonny Landreth - voted best slide player in GVuitar Player mag. I am EXCITED about the players!! Yeah - I will give a miss to the disco and rap and hip hop stuff but there is plenty of other blues happening.
The festival always has some non blues headliners play. Pays some bills and attracts some kids who might not otherwise attend AND maybe - just maybe some of the blues stuff will rub off on them.

How very true... I guess I was a little turned off last summer when K.C. & The Sunshine Band was advertised....
lets hope it attracts some new fans to the genre..

Oh and I would love to see JT ! and GBS!

If you play guitar, you owe it to yourself to use any available opportunity to see Sonny Landreth or Robert Randolph, whether at Bluesfest or elsewhere. These guys are absolute monsters. If you don't play pedal steel, you can easily shrug off Randolph's prowess and not feel bad that you can't do the same tricks, but Landeth is another matter. I've played guitar, sometimes excellently, for damn near 45 years now, in a wide variety of styles with all sorts of equipment and effects, and NONE of those sounds live in my neighbourhood, baby. Belew is also another monster of the instrument.

Very much looking forward to seeing Red. One of the undisputed masters of the Telecaster.
