Wondering what you guys think. Let's say you are putting together a new band and looking for players. What are the relative numbers out there per instrument? I mean all capable players with gear, not just experienced working pros. The numbers would vary a bit by region, but my guess is roughly as follows:

For every 100 guitarists there are:

40 drummers
25 (capable) singers
20 keyboard players
15 bass players
Less than 10 for all others (brass, other strings, perc, etc..)

It probably depends on local conditions, but you're not far from my local reality. For every 100 guitarists, we'd only have 5 capable keys players, 15 bassists, and drummers and singers both at about 30. It really and truly sucks to be between rock bands (as I am now), though I have a couple of other combos going. What constitutes a guitarist varies a lot too.

Peace, Mooh.

I'd go even lower: 1 bass player, 1 drummer, and you'd be lucky to find 1 competent singer and keyboard player.

For every 100 guitarists (all lead btw), there are 300 singers with LSD, 50 guitarists who play bass, or at least claim to, and 1/2 a drummer. Maybe the drummers are hiding from the lead guitarists, guitarists with basses and the singers. They are a scary bunch..........
