....to start a paypal dispute?
I've been waitng a week for a guy to ship a guitar. So far I've only recieved a couple of emails, both implying that I'm being impatient along with lame excuses of why he's not shipping. I know a week Isn't that long but I'm getting bad vibes from the guy. Especially since it appears as though he's no longer answering my emails.
Myself, I do everything I can to get items I've sold out the same day.

If he's not answering emails, opening a dispute will at least get his attention.

Was this done through eBay? He should have shipped it as soon as he got the money. Whatever you do, don't cancel your dispute what so ever until you get your guitar or else he can screw you over after you end it and you can't start a new one.

To be fair, I would wait 30 days then file a dispute demanding the guitar or money back. And I agree with SinCron, don't drop the dispute until you get either the cash or the guitar. Having said that there is nothing wrong with beginning a dispute after a couple of weeks if you are not satisfied or are getting bad vibes from the guy. As soon as you start the dispute, eBay will begin monitoring and recording your correspondence through the dispute. I filed a dispute after 45 days and luckily it worked out for me and the guy refunded my money. Hope it all works out for you.

Thing is, I'd much rather have the guitar and I'm worried that if I file a dispute he might just choose to refund the money. Kinda don't want to piss him off even though he's being a bit of a dick.
I think I'll give him a week. If he wants to give me the money back, I'll have to find another guitar I guess.:frown:
Don't forget using paypal as issues something. depending on how and where you are, it can take 7 to 11 days for the stranfer to be officialized. echecks, will take sometime longuer. Maybe ask him if the money transaction is fully completed.

Paypal informed that the payment was instant. As did the seller. I had a similar problem before. Some kid sold me his amp and claimed over 2 weeks that he couldn't find anything to ship it in. Eventually I found out it was his parents account and they ended up shipping it for him. My guess is that he got the money and sending the guitar went to the bottom of the priority list. Or he might be thinking......just one more gig??? Who fu<king knows. Either way not cool IMO! If he's out spending the money it might work to my advantage because when I open the dipute his only choice will be to send the guitar.

My brief experience says to start with Paypal immediately. Why? because they will likely stonewall you and give you absolutely no satisfaction on your claim. In my case it was only a low priced speaker, so no big money was at risk. However, on principle I went after the seller BUT it was my credit card company (that my Paypal account is tied to) that came through for me and gave a full refund. Don't delay getting your first claim started with Paypal.
Good luck.

IMHO, I would start your Paypal dispute right away. Whenever I have ever sold anything online, I have the boxes and packing materials ready so the item can be shipped out the next morning or sooner. There is NO excuse for you to be waiting like this! Good luck!

There is actually an official time period you have to wait before filing a grievence with ebay. Which I believe is 7 days. check for yourself, but the process is all there on the ebay site. I think in total it might take 3 weeks. You should also file with Paypal. That might get a more prompt response.
You might send the seller one more stern email asking for a definitive ship date. Telling him that If you don't get a positive response, then not only will you start the process with Paypal and ebay you will give him flaming feedback.

I recieved a USPS tracking # the other day. I bought the guitar from another forum....not ebay. Even though I have a tracking # I'm not too optimistic. You buy a guitar off a guy and he becomes a dead poster??? Little contact and, if any, it's a lot of crazy talk and excuses. I'm not sure how long USPS is going to take but I'll give an update when something happens.
BTW haven't filed a claim yet.

Yeah, it's real..........but for all I know he could have sent me a shoe-box full of dogshit. But seriously, I recieved empty boxes before.
