Hi guys,
I just purchased a Junior LP copy (by Jay Turser) to use for parts on my project guitar. I'm wondering if the hardware on the Junior LP is the same size as the hardware on the full size LP? Does anyone know?
Thx

I don't have a direct answer, but I do know there were some problems with epiphones and gibsons, one in metric (made in asia) and the other in imperial (made in USA). I suspect the J.T. is asian so you may have be careful with american parts.

I'll definitely keep that in mind while I'm looking for a bridge. The main reason for asking is that I want to build a full size LP copy and I was going to use the parts off of the Junior LP. Just wondering if I can go ahead and make a full size LP body and reuse the Junior parts. The only thing I would need to purchase is a bridge (as the parts guitar I bought doesn't have one).
Thx

I ran into that imperial/metric US/Asian thing a few times with Tokais and Squires - the US parts often don't fit.

might i ask why you didnt just buy the parts instead of a whole guitar?

Sure thing Budda - I got the guitar for $50. A LP style neck alone was going to cost me that or more (especially by the time I got it shipped to Canada) + cost of pickups, tuners, knobs, pots, etc.... If I decide not to build a guitar, I'll just get a bridge for this one and have a nice little instrument for less than $70.
With respect to metric vs imperial - that shouldn't matter to me since I'm just reusing all the parts (except for the missing bridge).
Does anyone know if the only difference between the junior and full size LP is only body size? (if you disregard the type of electronics, finishes, etc...) If you look at this guitar, to me the only diff I see is that the body is smaller.

Traditionally, Juniors would have a wraptail bridge. I suspect your LP jr. copy probably has a bridge/tailpiece setup. Am I right? I'm sure the parts would fit a carved top LP scale wise but the thread sizes might be different. If you are building a LP you might consider keeping it compatible for future upgrades and repairs with readily available parts. Spending a bit more on decent hardware now might save you some money and headaches down the road.
Now I can see your photo. A junior should be the same size as a standard model. The standard model is thicker because of the carved maple top. It also has an angled neck because of the carved top. Your guitar is "close" to the shape what a JR would look like but JR's would have only 1 pickup and a wraptail bridge.

Thx Lester. I guess JR is not the right term them for my guitar. It's more of a mini-LP I suppose. The guitar I'm building will not be arched top - this is basically just a project that I have interest in taking on so I'm not too concerned about upgrading down the road... I'm probably more likely to take what I build apart just so I can build a better body. From looking at pics, I think I should be safe just by purchasing a standard LP bridge (I have the tailpiece as you can see from the pic).

Yeah, your guitar is actually closer to a Special than a Junior. What's the scale length on that guitar? That tailpeice is sitting really far back or maybe that body is smaller than a Gibson.
