The Peavey clipping with a pedal in the effects loop thread brings up an interesting (and more general) question...
For an amp that has a line level effects loop, is there any way to adapt that signal for regular pedals?
Something to cut the signal, I guess. Like a buffer or line driver, but backwards. You'd lose a bit of volume, but whatever.
Alternately, I know there are some amps that have a send level switch (or a send level pot) built right into the amp. JCM900 is an example. How complicated would it be to add that functionality to an amp that doesn't have it?
The amp I'm thinking of is all tube, even the effects level sends and returns and reverb drivers are tube based (12ax7). The loop is tuned for line level, AFAIK (don't have it yet).
Option 3: Aren't there some devices that sit in a rack and allow you to run a drawer full of pedals? I'm sure I've seen that sort of thing in someone's gear pictures.
