I'd love to go with RS, but I've clipped my credit card. My new Tele really just needs a new tone pot. Where should I go? I assume a Toronto guitar store must sell a decent Pot.

Who should I go to?
What brands should I be looking for?
If I replace both pots and the capacitor what values should I be going for?

i used to always get it from a hippie guy who lived in kensington marke..... oh wait, sorry.... misread the question.

12th fret ought to have what you need, or steves or l&m for that matter. CTS are the working option for good quality (the fender and the alparts large pots are CTS brand, they'll be stamped on the pot itself). 250k pots and a .47 cap are the standard tele fare. i put a vitamin q in my tele for a really nice tone roll.. it ran me about $25 for the cap.. the pots shouldn't be more than $8 (i've seen them priced upwards of $15 though).

Electronsonic. There are also a bunch of other smaller electronic suppliy houes in the Steels and Parlament area (Sayall, Double H). It has been a while since I have physically been there, but it was almost like it was an electronics district. If you couldn't find something there, you probably didn't need it.

You can hit Active Surplus on Queen St., Honson or Creatron on College near Spadina, or you can go out to Mississauga near Dixie Road and Matheson.

I'll definitely hit Honson and Active. Both are short walk from home. I'm assuming I go for Audio taper pots, not linear. Is this correct?
