Just pondering this cause I tend to ponder....

Can you put a Reverb pedal between a head and cab? So basically it would add reverb to the amplified signal.

Anyone ever try this. Or....is this just plain old stupid???

I know of no pedal that could handle the output of a power amplifier and survive.

If you really want to do this you can run a (yea, for like the freakin' umpteenth time I'm gonna laud the coolness of...) Palmer PGA-04 after your power amp. This brings the power amp signal down to a line level signal. You route this signal through any processing you want (delays, reverbs, etc.) and then pass that signal along to a power amp with lots of clean headroom like a 300W solid state amp, and then run that into a guitar cabinet (if you're doing it this way you use the Palmer's full frequency output, not it's filtered output). Or bypass the second power amp and go straight from the F/X into the PA (and you use the Palmer's filtered output in this case).

It's probably a lot simpler to mic the cabinet, and add some reverb at the mixing desk.

That's kind of what I figured. Thought I would throw that out there. I don't plan on trying it. Thanks for the info.

i found out its $250 to get reverb installed in my jsx.

might actually be worth it..

Not a good idea. You'd likely ruin your transformer or something as the amp needs to be attached directly to a load, especially if it is tube.

I had an old Marshall of mine modded to take a reverb tank. It is still running to this day.

If the mod is done by a proper amp guy it can be done just fine.

Having said that...if your amp has an effects loop then there is no real reason to get a reverb installed. There are PLENTY of great pedals and spring reverb units out there.

simple as this maybe

run yer 'verb through yer amp's effects send/return

as close as you'll get

you should even be able to get very good sounds out of whatever verbs you may use in a line of pedals

i use an e.h. holy grail for a really long washy 'verb,
and a digitech digiverb for softer room type sounds
both near/at the end of my pedal chain

if reverb pedals have too much noise get into higher end racks
and use them in yer effects send/return
