Hi guys,

I'm really not big on games at all but I've been looking into getting something. Nowadays though, it seems that everything revolves around a few basic concepts. I like pretty much anything where the makers actually used their imagination a bit. To give you an idea, I liked quest for glory 5, max payne series and age of empires 2. Something interesting and imaginative would be nice. It doesn't matter if it's not new, in fact that would be preferred cause of system requirements...and yea I'm lookin' at PC games

thx

Have you tried Max Payne 2?

I've never tried this, but Red Dead Revolver seems fun. Same guys who made Max Payne.

try the game XIII, that's a great, odd shooter that's available cheap. try medal of honour, umm... how bad is the computer? half life 2 is great..... lego star wars is awesome.... psychonauts is a cool little game... that's some i've liked lately.

Medieval: Total War, you can try Rome: Total War, if your comp can handle it, but its more about flashier graphics, Medieval is a "deeper" game. Theres also a good mod for it called Napoleonic: Total War, and some other ones.

If you like really complex/deep games, then any of the Paradox Intreactive games are great. Notably Europa Universalis II, Hearts of Iron II, Crusader Kings. These games are all 2D, but have (relatively) very complex diplomacy, economy/country management, planning, etc. If you've never tried a Paradox game, they will also take probably one or two games to get used to, where you will pro'lly have to play on easy and possibly with cheats. But theres plenty of guides and such written about them on their Wiki (e.g.: http://www.paradoxian.org/hoi2wiki/index.php/Main_Page) , and the forums are very helpful as well. (Another neat thing about these game is, if you can sit through it, you can start a game of CK, then when you finish, load it into EU II, and then when you're done with that one, you can continue it in HoI II)

If you want something a bit on the simpler side, but which will still offer hours of entertainment and lots of replay value, try Civ III.

I guess you can kinda guess that I'm into strategy games (though I hardly ever play anything anymore), but the great thing about any of the ones I mentioned, if you like strategy, is that they can offer a year or two worth of replay value, not even considering all the mods out there for them, unlike most shooters and etc.

the Company Of Heroes RTS games are great and a new twist on the genre.

If you're a big online FPS fan, I'd recommend the Medal of Honor series. Awesome single player and fantastic online play.

Get Rome, then after you install it download and install Rome Total Realism Platinum. It's far more accurate and is more entertaining than the original unmodded.

Get the mod here: www.rometotalrealism.org.

Trust me, you wont be disappointed.

I don't really play video games, but my son plays 'War Rock'. It's a free online first person shooter that you play against other on-line players all over the world.

another suggestion for the medal of honour set- you can buy the moh with the breakthrough and spearhead expansion packs really cheap now, and its really the only game i play- every couple months ill play it, but online only.
i also got the moh pacific assault, its good, but i dont really care for the online play.
moh runs good on weaker machines, i use a 2.08 ghz with 1 gb ram and an old ti4200 video card

I havn't seen any fun games I like in a while. I think I'm off gaming for a bit. I just permanatly deleted my Unreal Tournament game that I wasted to much time playing. All the games that come out now are just so time devoted. Hour after hour, not like nintendo though, back to the old school for me:P

+1 for Medal of Honor.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault took over my life for a while, and I loved it!!!

I'm currently playing Call of Duty 4. Super realistic, exciting as hell, but not much thought process involved. I haven't played it online, but the single player storyline is pretty decent and lots of fun.

I'm also getting back into Diablo 2, seeing as Diablo 3 isn't coming out  Again, super immersive game and still has a HUGE online following.

As for all time favorites that I still play, Master of Orion 2 is up there, the entire Civilization series (Sid Meier is my god), X-Com: UFO Defense (I don't remember the mid-late 90's because of this game, and I still play it!), and Neverwinter Nights and its two expansions dominated my life during '01-'05. These games all involve the ol' noggin a decent amount, so check them out. They're also old games, so you can easily run them on any machine.
