How it fell apart sounds like an interesting story!
I just order a new arm from StewMac. I have a 1986 original and apparently they don't make parts for it anymore, but I'm gonna make the arm work!

If you buy a floyd make sure its a licensed copy and not a knock off however you probably already knew that info.
I think i would try ebay to get the best deal if you have an ebay account...just make sure you read sellers feedback and see if they have a good feedback score plus you can ask them questions before bidding.
Also narrow down search to north america to the left of screen...be aware of where product is located for shipping purposes.
I use ebay all the time for buying and selling however you have to take your time and narrow down the best choices...i also will google the sellers id name or ebay store name to see if they have a site or to see if anything negative is being said about them.
Here is ebay canada and the listing for Floyd rose...have to search through and find a licensed Floyd Rose and if auction doesnt say its licensed then ask seller and if they say yes it is try and get that in writing for proof if it turns out not to be.

i checked warmoth's site they have floyd rose and schaller floyd rose tremolos i'm thinkin about getting 1 from them since i'm ordering a few bodies and necks.
my tremolo fell apart when i was pulling up on it since it's routed for a recessed floyd rose and i dont have it blocked.the saddles came loose, and stripped all the screws that hold them, and broke a few other things as well.

The Gotoh Floyd is a good (inexpensive) floyd that works great. The Musicman floyds are Gotoh floyds and I believe they also manufacture the Ibanez Edge Trems as well. THe OFR's are great as are the Schallers, but for the money you can't go wrong with a gotoh floyd.
