Hi:

I lifted this thought from the Amps/Cabs forum.

Someone from there mentioned that a Boss OC-2 is often part of Ian Thornley's sound. So please forgive me for the ignorance of this question ( I have been conditioned to be mostly a Plug-Straight-Into-The-Amp guy). Anyway, how would he use an Octave to get his sound. I always figured he was just using more expensive high-gain amps than mine and down-tuning.

That'd be me.

You run it guitar -> OC-2 -> amp (or other distortion pedal). And you mix in an octave below or two octaves below to really thicken up your sound. Nothing overboard, just enough to make it deeper.
