Thanks

I may be wrong but I think the Palominos are exclusive to some stores in the US (Guitar Center?). Centre Stage Music in Kingston carries Crate, I bought my V from them, but I have never seen a Palimino there. I believe LA Music carries the Crate V series. http://www.lamusic.ca/

dont go crate. yes their tube amps sound decent, but they're unreliable (i have read this from owners on another forum).

steves music and L&M should have a bunch of traynors (YCV's, YCS's) available.

If you look at my sig I own a Crate VFX5112. Great tones and not one issue in 3 years of hard use. I never thought I would own a Crate but the V series is a different breed.

I think that the Arts Music Store in Newmarket carries both. So you could do some A/B comparo.

City dump.
Lol that's where Crate belongs IMO!

Worse case scenario you could see if there's any used ads where people will let you try 'em out.

Wow.....Everyone has preferences for the rigs they use but to trash talk another forum members equipment......well it reminds me of another forum with the initials HC. The original poster wanted to know were he could find some amps and a couple of us were just trying to help out. Not everyone has , wants or can afford the latest amps from Marshall, Mesa, a boutique maker, vintage or any number of high end manufacturers. I just retured a fine Traynor amp to the store the other day because I prefered my tone with my V. I still think Traynor makes a great product and would never cut down anyone that owns one or say they belong in the trash. Everyone has specific tastes, budgets and needs that the stuff they own fulfills. I always thought making music was the point...not the type or dollar value of the tools we use.

Yeah, they were exclusive to Musician's Friend and the big box US stores. You'll have to cruise fleeceBay and such to find a used one.

No need to take it so personal, everyone is free to voice their opinion on brands or specific gear.

You like it? Great, have a ball! I'm willing to bet you'll recommend it to others for that exact reason. I don't like it? Fantastic, I don't buy it and I won't recommend it. He doesn't like it? That's great too, he doesn't have to buy or recommend it either!

Yes, the Palomino line is exclusive to some US stores. I am not sure what are the differences between the Palomino line and the regular Crate line if any. Is the Blackheart line replacing the Palomino line? I bet the stores that carry Crate will also carry Blackheart.

"city dump" does not constitute an opinion. Perhaps, I don.t like the tone, build, colour, speaker, reliability of an amp etc....would be an opinion. "city dump" to me is just a put down. This is the same sort of rhetoric that says all, Strats, Les Pauls, Korean, Chinese, fill in the blank products are crap. All companies have hits and misses. St Louis Music not only owns Crate but Ampeg and I believe the Blackheart Amps that are all the rage with some folks. Does this mean that all these products are only worthy of "city dump" status.

Well, at any rate it isn't constructive. Some details are better than none. In any review or opinion it's good to say why. I've read and heard reviews of gear, albums, movies, etc where the reviewer didn't like whatever it was being reviewed. BUT, they gave their reasons. And based on those reasons I thought I might like it, and guess what--in many cases I did. So if some says they don't like them for reason A,B, or C--and I don't care about A, B, or C--or if I'm of contrary opinion on A. B, or C--that's actually a good review for me.

In any case I now am a Traynor owner as I picked up a TBM-10 yesterday. I wasn't looking for a gigging amp, I wasn't looking for the best amp. I was looking for a low price, small size & weight and low watts. Why? That fits my needs. If I didn't already have a bass amp there would have been better choices. If I needed a gigging bass amp--there were better choices. But for playing at home, and a few other uses, it's a good fit.
