I'm not going to rush out & buy it immediately--and I plan to take my bass in & test drive it first, but does anybody have any recommendations of small (10 or 15 watt; lightweight (20 pounds or less); and about 2 1/2 feet high or less) bass practice amp?

I have a big, loud one (It's made by Garnet.) But it's impractical at this time for a variety of reasons. (It's still there if I need it.)

Any recommendations are appreciated--even if I don't take them.

Thanks.

I'm using a Peavey Max 110 for home use. Here are the specs:

20 watts (rms) into ohms
4 ohms
10 inch speaker
DDT(TM) speaker protection
Gain control
Modern/Vintage voicing switch with patented TransTube(R) tube emulation circuitry
Low, Mid, and High EQ controls
CD/Line-In jacks
Headphone jack
Weight Unpacked: 28.2
Width Unpacked: 15.25
Depth Unpacked: 11.25
Height Unpacked: 17.5I've also jammed with it a couple of times when I don't need allot volume. Inexpensive as well.

Yorkville Bassmaster XM50...very small in size, not much bigger than amps with half the power, but with 50 watts through a 10" speaker...anything less than 50 watts may sound weak...handles the fifth string at decent volumes...I've used mine for small gigs too...it gets a lot of milage as my lesson studio bass amp...look about for a used one...highly recommended...Canadian...

Peace, Mooh.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Although the Peavey is heavier than I'd like.

Anybody else?

Hi,

You can find an old Crate BX15 for cheap. Useful EQ points.

It's what I used before discovering tubes.

Cheers!

I bought a Bass Mate 10 yesterday. I did say I wasn't going to get it right away, but the price was too good to pass up. So I bought it. For what I'm buying it for--playing at home and occasional use playing bass behind acoustic guitars--it fits the bill.

I have a health reason for it not being heavy or large.

As for the bass tones--it does sound good--I like the presence control.
It also sounds pretty good with my Mustang.

So thanks for the suggestions guys.
There were some good ones. I did check most of them out.

Well it keeps up with 2 acoustics, a trumpet, flute, violin and an electronic keyboard. Only turned to about 1 1/2.

I like the headphone jack. It works well too.
