Hi All,
I am new to the guitar world and I am leaning towards getting a Gibson LP Studio and was looking for some recommendations for amps. I am mainly looking for the Guns N' Roses type sound. I won't really be playing anything heavier than that and I like a nice clean sound. Doesn't have to be a really loud amp or anything, just something reasonably priced that will get the job done. Any recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks

Depends what your idea of reasonably priced is, but as a beginner, if you're willing to drop enough cash to buy a LP Studio, I'm assuming you have access to some decent cash.
If you want the Slash sound, get what the man used. A Marshall tube head and a Marshall 4x12. Slash has a signature Marshall amp, but you can substitute a JCM800 and get pretty close. You can find a JCM800 and a 1960a cab for just a touch over 1000 usually.
Otherwise, go for a smaller Marshall tube combo if you don't want to invest in a stack at the moment, or don't have room for it.

Ya I guess I should have mentioned price range. First of the wife won't let me get anything too large :) and I am probably looking to spend <= $500 if possible for the time being.
Thanks

K, so you're looking at a combo amp. At that price range, you pretty much limit yourself to a used amp if you want anything of decent quality. If you want to stick with Marshall, you can find lots of Valvestate Combos for under $500, but these are transistor amps, not true tube amps.
You can also find lots of Traynor YCV40s in the 400-500 price range, though I don't know if they will have enough gain for you. I had one for a while and loved it, and I certainly thought it had enough gain for hard rock, but ymmv.

For that price range, Peavey Valveking will be hard to beat. Not a Marshall but will get you into Marshall territory. And it's an all tube amp.
Otherwise, like hollowbody mentionned, take your time and watch on the used market - craigslist, eBay, etc - and you could find something neat.
You'll get real lucky if you can find a JCM800 combo for 500$. Traynor amps mentionned by hollowbody are a great choice also, all canadian made amps and affordable too.

for that price range, keep your eyes peeled for a deal on a traynor YCV50Blue. EL34's V30's - specs towards the "british" sound. master volume - crank it without cranking it! built in canada - reliable (moreso then marshalls by the sound of things)
i'd look for a used traynor YCV50 IMHO. will sound better then the peavey VK as well

We bought the 1 - 12 version and the full on distortion is not all that great. Front it with a good distortion pedal and run the amp clean makes for a signifigant improvement. We also later ran the thing through the cheapy marshall 4 - 12 the asian one and boy big improvement!
