View Full Version : Strange Day

Some sort of strange mojo seemed to work it's majic on me today. I bought a new Traynor YCS50 amp the other day and put it through it's paces on the weekend. Great amp with some awesome tones (I posted on it in the amps and cabs section)....but I could not find a clean that really blew me away. So this morning I returned it to the store. This particular place will only give you an exchange or store credit for returns. So I looked at a bunch of amps and guitars. Played about 20 electrics and the one that really grabbed me was a black Highway One Strat. Alinco III singles, 70's headstock, jumbo frets, nitro finish and a Rosewood fretboard. Strange thing is that in 35+years of playing I have never liked or even thought of owning a Strat. It ended up coming home with me. Next I plugged in to my trusty V and was blown away ,as I expected , by the cleans. The real eye opener was the distortion channel........it was amazing......like the amp and guitar were made for each other. I put my Tokai Love Rock away for tonights practice and suprised the guys by pulling out the Strat. They were floored as they know I'm a LP type of guy. They're jaws hit the floor though when I played the Strat for them and they heard the tones. I still love my Tokais and twin buckers but the HWY 1 is a great addition to the arsenal...who would've guessed?

I had almost the same experience with my CIJ Strat! I am a humbuckers fan, but when I grab it I was totaly blown aways! Maybe our brain was to stuck before and didn't want to hear that sound! ;)
Have fun with your new axe and if you can, can you post some pics! We always love to see the beauties! ;)

No matter how many Les Pauls you have, you gotta have at least one Strat.

...plain jane?

are you kidding?

that is a statement in black and white!

but, i think it is against the law for the store to refuse to give you a full refund, if you returned the amp within thirty days in new condition.

Thanks Dave. I have dealt with this store for many years and knew their policy beforehand. Hey i got a great guitar out of the deal.

hmm

I'm going to make note of this strategy.

Where my wife would probably freak if I bought yet another guitar, buuuut, if I bought an amp, then found out I didn't like it, and couldn't get my money back so I had to trade it for a guitar...
