I can almost here those big changin' "Closer To The Heart" chords coming out of that thing. Nicely done!

And ditto on the Epiphone nonsense. You get what you pay for whether you like it or not. I've pissed away hundreds of dollars in the past by scrimping and buying something I thought was "good enough". From now on, if I can't afford what I really want - I ain't buying.

Thanks, I'm going to look into one.

IMO $3,500 is not bad considering the cost of some of the other Gibson signature/inspired by models. I wonder how the Kiefer Sutherland 336 @ $4,400 is selling?

Alvin Lee 335 $3,950, Larry Carlton 335 $3,600, etc.

I remember reading that if you get over the Keifer name and the price, it's a really good guitar.

If you want bang for the buck, check out a Heritage H535. I picked up a used one in near mint condition with a flamed maple top for $1100. Plays like butter.

Notwithstanding Gibson's history, quality and sound, in some ways I find all of their semi hollowbodies to be overpriced considering I believe they all have laminated (or ply) tops.

For $3K+ a guitar should have a solid wood top don't you think?

Hey! If its good enough for Alex!

That's a pretty classy colour scheme, and I like the trem. $3500 isn't at all unreasonable for a fine guitar, so long as you get your money's worth in use and enjoyment, which I'm betting you will.

If a 335 had a solid top, it wouldn't sound like a 335 anymore. Also, it would be more prone to feedback. Eastman makes solid top semi-hollowbodies and hollow bodies. They're nice enough for the price and have their own sound which is different from that of a 335 or a 175.

How about one of the new ES339's? A little smaller than a 335, but essentially the same. I tried a couple at L&M in Victoria a month or so ago, and they are KILLER! And only about $1800 from the Gibson CUSTOM SHOP-I think they are one of the best deals out there-If I only had had the ca$h! WAHWAHWAH!

Whatever you do - do not throw up on it. I think it would be very offended and mess up it's fine whiteness.

Play the hell out of it.
