Would it be alright to play my les paul studio through my ultrasound acoustic amp?

i plan on getting an amp for it but don't have the $ right now to get an amp...and the guitar has just been sitting here

so would it be ok to give it a few strums ? (no pedals or anything)

This is perfectly safe. If you want it to sound more like an electric amp, get a cheap Zoom G2 and rock on!

thanks for the help

i was afraid i'd damage the amp if i plugged it in...but i tried it out earlier today and the amp handled it fine

That's my preferred setup.
I usually play through a P.A. system so in order to get different tones I got a Digitech RP250 guitar modeling processor. At home I use a Peavey KBA 15, with that setup I can be as clean or raunchy as I like, and the Amp handles it quite well.

It won't hurt to play electric guitars through acoustic amps, after all, many such amps are designed (in part) for magnetic pickups. However, in my experience and to my ears, the tone won't be as good as through a decent electric guitar amp, at least not without some sort of processor and major eq-ing.

The longer I live the more I believe there's no substitute for the real thing. I used to think I could change the real thing, LOL.

Peace, Mooh.
