so im lookin at buyin a new electric and amp strictly for basement use with the total price coming to around 500 bucks. lookin for a versitile combination as i play many different styles (beatles, led zep, clapton, testament)...ive been lookin at gear on music123.com because the shop in my area is extremely overpriced and i dont get out of my town very much at all.

i just want some help deciding and any suggestions will be taken into consideration

the guitar i am considering right now is an LTD H-101, and amp is a roland cube 20X

i have not played an H-101, but i used to own an EX-260 which i did like and there is not much difference between the 2 other than the H-101 is a bolt-on, has an agathis with flamed maple top body, and LH-150 pickups while the EX-260 is a set, has a strictly agathis body, and LH-300 pickups
as for the roland cube i have played it but only for a few minutes each time, and mostly only played metal on it and didnt really fool around with the settings on it at all

To be completely honest, I'd be looking at good condition used stuff. You'd end up with better gear for your bucks. MIM Strat or Tele, Epis, Valve Jr. for an amp, and a multi pedal for effects.

Here's a couple more that are a little closer to where you are.

Going used isn't a bad idea either.. cruise the local Craigslist and Kijiji. You can often find a decent deal to get you started down the road to some serious GAS!!
