Hey guys. So you might have seen my post about my Godin earlier, and in my opinion, I think it's time for a serious upgrade. I'm kinda fixed on the Les Paul Studio in Alpine White. I find it amazing. Anywhere I ask, ex: Long & Mcquade, they tell me it's a great guitar. It's like 1200 bucks though - is this a guitar I'll love? Thanks guys in advance.

In my experience with Studio's (i've owned 2 different ones, and played several others) they are really hit and miss. Some are real jems, and others are terrible. What I would suggest is to try out every studio you find that you like. If you are set on that guitar that is. For around the same price range, try to find an epiphone elitest. imo, they play just as good, if not better than most gibsons.

Yeah, they are hit and miss. You might also look into the used market. Used Studios are usually listed for $800 to $1000.

you can easily get an LP studio for $950 - dunno how long you'd have to wait for a white one though.
i have an LP studio, and i have only played 1 other one. mine seemed much better to me.

this is a guitar forum.
the answer to "should I buy it?"
will always be "YES"
that's our job, that's what we do.

Not honestly sure that a Gibson is necessarily an upgrade from a Godin. Check out fleabay canada, there are some Gibson studios on there now. Have you tried a Godin LG? They can be had used for ridiculously low prices and are incredible guitars.

No? Well, I do have a Godin LG, but, I'm not sure if I like it so much anymore. I did a toll on it, and I'm thinking about trading it in at L&M.

You played one other Studio? I don't quite see how the same make and model can be a "hit-and-miss" type thing. Somone explain this to me?

You can take 10 identical guitars off the rack side by side and each one will feel and play differently. It's hard to explain, it's more something you have to experience yourself. The big names have let their quality control slip too.
Sorry to hear you don't like your LG. I've got three, one with duncans in it, one with the old style tetrads and a P90 version. I play them far more than my LP's. I sold my LP studio a couple of years ago as I found the LG's had better sustain, tone and feel for me.

Some aren't as nice as others.
I love my Les Paul Standard is way nicer than others I've played.
They just dom't feel as nice.
I've seen used Ebay studios for $600.

I have played lots of studios. All have left me flat and uninterested.

As said above, if you can, try a few to find the one you like.
A studio is every bit a Gibson Les Paul, just without some of the fancier details.
I know color is important, but I think it should be second to playability and tone.

So what do you think about the Epiphone Elitist compared to the Godin?

Which Elitist compared to which Godin?
