i started with a squire body and neck. i stripped both, and to my surprise the neck is in good shape. the body is alder i think and looks very nice. bought some 1956 ford fiesta red paint, and some gloss white. handed with it folkart paint, the correct colors. i bought all US fender equipment, mostly on ebay. i think ti will look nice once done. ppl say are you going to sell it , are u going to sell it? i;m not sure yet lol

anytime! i would be happy to build one for yeah. just let me know .
most of the time is in the painting. took me forever to make a hybrid of the original and the reissue. the reissued one looks to clean when the original was alot more crude. i made all templates for the painted areas and they turned out great.
Wow - nice! *bows in awe of your painting ability* What did you use to get the half white haf red body?

well i cut a piece of cardboard to the angle i wanted it to. then i stuck toothpicks in it. this abled me to adjust the height of the cardboard. once set to height i wanted to (about a 1/4 inch), i sprayed on the white about a 45 degree angle. the card is about 1/4 inch off the body because u want to make the white blend with the red. so thats what happened. and i think it turned out nice. i almost screw up the first time, and managed to save it so i didnt have to start over. lol
What kinda spray did you use on it? I think maybe a strat that's red and black would be cool.... or maybe blue and black.
You said you started w/ a squier - which one and did you get the fender decal for it?

I basically wondered the same thing on his original thread...
I have heard of people doing that to make a copy of Hendrix's guitar.

No worries. I think they didn't burn the pickups and any plastic hardware--or put on cheap stuff to burn, and then replaced it.

nice, i wonder who caught jimi's guitar (the body) at monterey !! despite the fact that it does not look broken in, you have it dead on !! maybe a little wear & tear would look like jimi's !!

Looks amazing, dude. I can't wait to see the final version, electronics and all.
What did you use to strip the original paint job?
Did you apply a clearcoat over the finished paint job? What is the finish like?

hey,
well i used some cardboard cut it. then stuck it with toothpicks. i placed it on the body with a height of about a 1/4 inch. then sprayed the white. then i hand painted it. once that dried i gave ti about 4-5 good coats of clear. i still have to buff it and polish it. but that can come later. if anyone wants me to do one for them, i'm cheap labor haha
