So, I've been thinking I already "need" another guitar-maybe something with humbuckers to go with my strat.

Today, I find out the husband of a girl I work with has a black stratocaster (he says). They've been together 6 years and she had no idea, he's never brought it out. He says he got it used 10 or 12 years ago, never learned to play. Going to have a look tonight, it'll be cheap...could this be my deal of a lifetime?

or a banged up old strat look-alike...

Details to follow!

Hey, you never know... but nothing ventured, nothing gained. Good luck.

Just got home...Squier, built in Korea, black w/ white pickguard and rosewood fretboard. Missing the b string but other than that looks next to new. The volume and tone controls feel "heavy" (if that's the right way to put it) they don't turn easy like mine.

The good (?) news is he dug it out to show me and has decided to keep it. He's taking it tomorrow to get a set of strings put on, buy a small amp and try to learn to play. Perhaps some of my enthusiasm rubbed off-I've been at it a little over a month now and am having a ball!

He's going to come over friday night and we'll make some noise.
Perfect.

It sounds like you're living my dream...

Although it didn't end with a new guitar--but in some ways somebody to jam with is better than another guitar.
