My latest is a transparent sapphire blue deluxe body, MIJ neck and tuners, vintage trem, Rio Grande Vintage Tallboys, smoke blue pearl guard.

Wow. I love the blue - and you can see wood through it too! I dig the pearl pickguard and generally I don't like them.

Yes, It is ash. The body is stock Fender. I also have a similar one that's transparent red.

While I don't normally like that sort of pickguard, I have to say it really works with that blue. It takes on some of the "blueness" of the finish.

I'm of the same mind. But, when I tried that guard, on that body, it just plain looked right. The Black Strat in my pics also has a pearl guard (kinda aged white cream color) for the same reason.

This is an example of it paying to be willing to experiment.
Of course if you went with a pickguard that looked awful, it would still sound the same, still they say we hear with our eyes sometimes.
