...having just debuted the new godin a6 at a gig on friday (very inspiring guitar!), i added a parts telecaster to the herd on the weekend.

its a beautiful white with a pearloid pickguard, rosewood fretboard and some nice appointments, including:

ashtray bridge

compensated brass saddles

three pickups...john suhr, i think

vintage tuners (these things are amazing!)

it is light and resonant. i used it on session yesterday afternoon and played it at length last night.

it was built by a local guy - jim kruger - who i have developed much admiration for, although i haven't met him, and my guitar tech (eric pykala at the arts).

the price he (my tech) is asking is a no brainer. probably about 1/4 of what the guitar is worth. it will rival my aerodyne tele as my number one.

no pics...sorry! i'll try and find something on the net.

Ditto--although according to that thinking--I don't own a 12-string--just the other guitars I've posted pictures of.

Now where's that camera?

Just some notes on David's post. Jim Krueger, besides being an old and dear friend, builds some great guitars. This one started when I went to his shop to rout another of my guitars for a middle pickup and saw a body and neck blank already cutout on his bench. I'd been meaning to build a Tele for awhile, and when I picked-up the dead light one-piece swampash body it was Time. Jim routed the body, carved the neck and slotted the board, and sprayed the color coats. The rest was me building the ultimate vintage Tele, retaining the ashtray with 3 brass saddles, the Tele bridge pup, and the vintage tuners, which I consider the essence of a real Tele. It's funny, I usually build with a "vintage modern classic" mentality, but with Teles you got to go back to the roots to make it right. The materials are crude, but the way you assemble and finesse makes all the difference. Bottom line: A bunch of the local Players have tried this guitar and were mightily impressed. I'm glad it's going to a friend/player like David, cause it's like keeping it in the family. The only reason it's leaving is due to the sudden influx of a solid rosewood-necked PRS Singlecut Trem and a mint MESA Express 5:25 (cash flow baby), and knowing my next one will be even better.
Enjoy David!-eric

...i'm eager to meet jim kruger one of these days. i've seen his guitars occasionally at encore music in scarborough. they always inspire a double take.

i'm also curious to know more about the neck on this guitar, which appears to be a v shape (soft or hard?), which seems to help anchor the thumb in the low registers.

let me tell you, this is an inspiring and extremely difficult guitar to put down. like a ravishing woman, it will probably keep me up nights...
