I bought this last year.. Its a 1992 Yamaha Weddington Custom. They are not easy to find, and becoming collectable.Took me awhile to locate this one. They where called the LP killer. I have a LP custom and it plays as nice as it does.
Just wondering if anybody ever owned one.

No. I don't own one but it kinda reminds me of my AES620.

Nice guitar. Those old Yamahas are pretty cool.
Stratin2traynor, how do you like your AES620? Been intrigued by those for some time now, although when I finally checked one out in the flesh, I was surprised by how slender the body was. Good balance, though and the finish was very smart. Didn't plug 'er in but it felt like a substantial guitar to me.

I really like it a lot. To me it's kind of a cross between a LP and an SG. The neck is very chunky and comfortable. It's got a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge and a Yamaha pickup in the neck (which sounds really good). It's been described as a "stiff" guitar to play and I can see that. I don't know why but it is. Luckily I like that a lot. I play 11's on my strat, so I like to fight with the strings on bends. I've been toying around with the idea of changing the pups to covered pups (not for any particular reason, I'm just bored and I like the look of covered pups) and but I don't want to screw up the guitars mojo. LOL! It's sounds excellent just the way it is.
Fantastic value for the money.

have I ever owned one?. no...would I like to? youbetcha...but they just don`t show up very often on the web over here and when they do, they are very expensive...over $1000.oo usually. Still, I`m pretty happy with the Yamahs I do have.

i would give my left nut ( really) for a natural finish Weddington custom.
as for the AES620, they are great instruments and have a freaking nice chunky neck. stupidity made me trade mine for a Pacifica 812w that wasn't as nice as an older one i once had.
at the time the AES620 was sitting in its case because it wasn't screaming to me like my LGsp90 Godin.
Yamaha should do a AES p90 in plain mahogany.

by the way those Weddingtons are the real deal. they used Honduran mahogany as opposed to African. it was also Brazillian rosewood for the fretboard and nickel plated hardware. those are dimmarzio pickups.
yamaha did some sweet guitars under Rich Lasner. he was also with Ibanez when the Jems came out.
for the life of me i can't understand why Yamaha does these amazing guitars and then stop.
they need to bring these back. if only long enough for me to score one.

guitarzan.. I had to laugh out loud, (really your left Nut)...LOL
Anyways it took me awhile to score this one..Its in nice condition and for me i like the color better than the natural, but thats just me.
If a Natural had come up i would have bought it.. The custom u dont see much.
I found one in Canada( Halifax) and it had been modified so much i had to pass on it.
I have seen the natural, (I have pictures)i know a couple guys that have the custom in that color. My one Internet friend had 5 Weddingtons.. he had one standard, two classic's and 2 custom's.. he now has 4 Weddingtons. He just traded a Natural top Custom for a Very Very Rare Yamaha 1412 ( try and find One)
These are even more harder to find than the Weddington custom He also has a Yamaha 1420 model similar to the 1412.
These guitars have the neck through the body.
Another guitar that is cheaper but great for the $$$ a Peavey Odyssey.. They come up on ebay once and awhile for about 500.00
I dont know why Yamaha stops production on such a great guitar..Its like fender stopping production on there Strat or Tele.
Here is John's Natural Custom ( Take a look at the neck joint on the back, no heal.. what a nice design>> It has a 5 ply mahogany and maple neck..
