I really like the looks of the Peavey HP Signature Series EXP guitars-anybody have any experience with these?
Opinions welcome!
Cheers. :food-smiley-004:

I tried one out recently at a local peavey dealer - I have to say I was blown away. I'm not normally fond of many peavey products... But this year I purchased 2 classic 30s and I am absolutely head over heels about them. Peavey won best in show at NAMM '07 for their custom shop site, and their new line of axs are absolutely incredible for their price. The exp sounded great and played very comfortably - they do look fantastic too. For the price, you can't go wrong.

I'm biased, owning two Peavey Wolfgangs but honestly Peavey quality is equal and probably superior to Gibson IMO. My preference has always been modern builders. Peavey, Music Man, Carvin.............I prefer to spend $1500.00-$1800.00 for an instrument that plays like it's worth $3000.00.
I'm sure I'm gonna hear it now. :frown:

I have played all the brands you mentioned and all of them are great. I seem to remember a black Music Man Albert Lee you bought from Faracaster. That thing look's badass! ....and by the way, Peavey makes great stuff.

Thanks for the replys!
I know feel is very subjective, but would anyone care to compare the Peavey neck to other guitars? Like a strat feel or a Les Paul feel?
I don't see anywhere on Peaveys site that states neck radius. I like the feel of my strat, but that's all I've ever played-I might like a flatter fretboard too.
Thanks again for the input.

PVs are absolutely great for the money, but they always come up short when compared to their competition. Thats not a bad thing, as they can be had for a fraction of the price, but its enough for them to be forgotten by alot of the buying public. My PVs dont see any action, but they are cool guitars. If only they were as good as.................

way to set the bar low
edit* also, the peavey stuff keeps improving. they've had their share of clunkers in the past (and winners, too)... but they're really starting to make a great product all the way up.

to give you an idea... a $400 peavey EX-P (the superstrat base model) has the same sound as my gibson les paul studio.
food for thought.. just dont like 24 frets on a 24.75 scale guitar lol

I really thought I may have insulted someone by comparing Peavey with Gibson.
I love Gibson products but I think they are way overpriced. Unfortunately I really want an overpriced Goldtop, just like your avatar. lofu

This is why I'm asking so many questions-I'm looking at ordering one online as I can't get to a store to try one out. Fitting 2 more frets in 3/4" less fretboard than my strat might be a bit cramped-unless it's just the wider (up by the neck) ones that are closer together-I have a bit of trouble stretching to play some things now (pentatonic scales out close to the headstock for example)
Thanks for all your input everyone! :food-smiley-004:

I hear Peavey and I think of these-T-60 (http://www.peaveyt60.com/).
I seriously considered getting one of these back in the late 70's early 80's before I found my Iceman instead.

I bought a Peavey EXP Jack Daniels edition for a goof around guitar for the cottage, last month. I'm now playing it more than the 1991 Gibson Les Paul I got for Christmas! It is a surprisingly good guitar! I got the whiskey finish, but looks similar to this:http://namm.harmony-central.com/SNAMM05/Content/Peavey/PR/JD-EXP-charcoal-lg.jpg

I was looking to buy a harpoon last year and after exhaustive studies I settled for the HP special. I have no regrets. It is versatile, light, fun to play and very nicely finished. I've had Wolfgang players tell me how much they preferred the HP's feel and balance.

I love the HP Special! I've tried a couple out and I swear I can't tell the difference in feel between my Wolfgangs or the Special? Someday, I will get one!
