as interim GM.......discuss

I may be the only Leaf fan on earth that's a little sad to see JFJ go. Thought he got a bad shake. But I really like Fletcher. He brought us Dougie and Mats. Ideally I like to see JFJ in some sort of assitant position to help with the dismantling of the club.
Cheers
Pete

JFJ can rot in hell. I would laugh if any team would touch this guy. Maybe a Pee-Wee team............

I really don't know what to expect with the Upper Management still controlling this as a business venture and not a sports team.

Peddie is the spokesman / point man for the majority holder and their interest is solely financial.

This is the year I finally took to root against the Leafs. I wonder just how far it will go before anything more than window dressing happens with that club?

The upside for me of course is that in cheering for opposing teams, I'm having a great year.

Happy to see Ferguson out but Fletcher was an odd choice. Leaf's Management has this bad habit of pulling in old timers from the "glory days" to try and win back fan morale. It puts butts in seats for a few weeks as people reminisc about when Feltcher brought in Sundin and want to see what he'll do with him again I suppose.

Maybe JFJ is not the smartest hockey guy but who knows what he could have done under better circumstances. With Tanenbaum and Peddie undermining him the whole way I don't think anyone would have done a good job.

The leafs have no problems putting butts in the seats. They could put clowns on the team and fill the stadium. Oh wait.....

I was hoping for Scotty Bowman.

Bowman said the other week that he would no longer come mid-season but is still interested. Fletcher has said that he is only until the team finds a proper President/GM and that he will not carry on past this season. The smart money still is on Bowman. Fletcher's job is strictly to position the team so that a new GM can develop...aka jettison bad contracts.

He is filling the same role that Wayne Embry did for the Raptors to set up Colangelo to succeed.

JFJ refused to comment because he actually believed he was doing a great job. I was waiting for him to trade Pogge for the rights to Belfour.........

Since JFJ never had autonomy to run the club his way or anything even close to it I am suspect of who authored any trade in the past few years. I'm not saying JFJ isn't stupid enough to have done those trades I'm just insightful enough to recognized a scapegoat when I see one.

Please provide evidence of this. Until it comes I'll have to assume the Raycroft, Toskala, Lindross, and other deals involving dumping the future for the past were all his great ideas..........

Assume all you want. If you don't think Tannenbaum and Peddie were pulling the strings at the top then I guess you don't really follow the team. They've been looking at replacing JFJ for most of his tenure. And since it was pretty much public, the lack of confidence they've had in JFJ, I can't imagine that being a great work environment.
Was JFJ over with the Raptors making a mess of that team a few years ago. No, but Tannenbaum and Peddie were.
As far as "dumping the future for the past", is concerned the leafs were doing that long before JFJ came on to the scene. And before the lockout it didn't work too badly.
If you want evidence such as the top brass admitting to masterminding the trades, you won't get it. Kind of defeats the whole purpose of a patsy

Everyone is touting Brian Burke as the next saviour of the Leafs. I just don't see it. He loves Anaheim and the owners who've given him free reign to build a dynasty.
