Last Thursday I got my kit from Trinity delivered. Top notch as usual, and I threw a cabinet together in the evening (pine with red tolex covering). I had a Celestion G12H-30 to use in it as well.

ANyhow, here are some pics of the build. I wired it up yesterday (Saturday) started in the morning and was done by supper!

The parts layed out on the dining room table: with the Trinity Deluxe kit you get (for $380) all the components, a beautifull chromed chassis, tubes and transformers and wire, etc and a great manual.

Wiring up the eyelet board... jumpers on the back, components on the front and solder everything up! The layout is excellent.

Installed into the cabinet I made up (dont look too close at the Tolex job, its quick and dirty - I just needed a useable cabinet and didnt want to spend more than a few hours on it :) )

The completed amp!

It sounds amazing! Very bluesy and just an honest, to the point type amp. Tons of tones, I especially like the bright channel with the tone up on 8 or 8 1/2.

Now I have to go play my guitar!

Nice amp, and an excellent job of documenting the build. And just for the record, I dont see any problem whatsoever with your Tolex job.

I'm considering getting one of these Trinity kits for an amp. How does the dual volume and dual inputs work on those amps? I know that its not a channel switching amp, but are the two sets of inputs and volumes considered separate channels?

The bright and normal side are quite different. The bright side, well, is brighter! The high and low on each side are like most other amps, one input is lesser volume than the other.

I know this isnt a two channel amp - I am under the impression the two inputs can be jumpered but I have to ask Stephen about it. I dont think you can use each side separately as when you plug into both each volume affects the other.

Nice work Andrew. All you need now is the Bubbinga and Purplewood custom cab! Anyway I think you are right about the two channels being interactive so you can't really get the two channel thing out of it by using an ABY box.

However I was jamming with one last Friday. It was a combo like yours with a Tone Tubby alnico. I used the volume on the guitar for clean and crunch and used a BB Boost preamp for lead boost. It sounded absolutely amazing. Warm, smooth and soulful.... super ()*&#$#$ expressive. Great crunch and touch sensitivity.
This one had the stock JJ's with a sovtek rectifier and Heyboer trannys and it was LOUD. I am in the last stages of oiling my cab and should have my own in a week or so.

BTW, what can you tell me about that guitar you are holding in the picture?

Cheers

Cool,

Mine has a Jensen P12Q for the speaker, and sounds very close to a favoured original Fender 5E3 tweed.

I wanted the jazz amp, not the Neil Young amp. The cool thing with the 5E3 is that you get both!!!!!!

Larry,
That is an Ibanez (2007 model I believe, may be a 2006) AR300 reissue that my wife bought me for Christmas.

She is a sweetheart! :)

Another nice one AJ!

I have one of these on the way. Building it for a friend of mine...but he doesn't know it yet! I'll be messing with it for a few days first though... :D

I've got a few other ideas in the works too but purely planning/scheming at this point...
