Received a Marshall cab I bought with 2 speakers in them, and lo and behold, good old UPS managed to make one of the magnets fall off...

Can that be fixed? I've never had to deal with that before. First big item I've had shipped by UPS too, so they're batting 1000 with their shi**y service. Oh well...

Unfortunately, it's a write off

Yeah, that's what I thought. Guess I'm on the hunt for 2 new speakers.
I'm curious..... most HiFi guys consider speaker magnet bracing mandnatory and usually build it into the cabinet. Guitar manufacturers not so. Hence this result during rough handling. Why is this so?
Not that I'm trying to defend UPS, far from it

Well, at least it was from Canada, so no Brokerage fees.

If it was a repair, maybe it's for the best if you can you file a claim for the cost of replacing the speaker with an identical one.

I guarantee UPS will deny the claim when they see the packaging. I'm not wasting my time waiting for them.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck but I'd either get out the epoxy or contact cement and put it back on, worth a shot. If the voice coil isn't damaged it, looks good in the pic, it should work fine. Peavey came up with a great idea on their Scorpion speakers, you can buy a replacement basket and just mount the old magnet on them. It's best to take the speaker out and lay it on a table or bench. Remember if you use the contact cement method, it is a one shot deal. Clean both surfaces well (razor blade and non-petroleum based cleaning solvent like alcohol) and brush cement on to both surfaces and wait until both surfaces are dry to touch, line up the magnet over the voice coil and drop in place. With the epoxy method, apply to each part also and hold it in place over night with duct or masking tape. Also wouldn't hurt to place a flat heavy object on top till everything is cured.
