Have you guys wandered over to the GFS site and had a look at their new xiaviere blemished xv-500 and 700 guitars? The finish on these look pretty sweet and the reviews soo far seem fairly positive. The downside is that I have not heard that many soundclips and I think the headstock kinda sucks. With a quick change of the tuners who knows?
Obviously I have played long enough that I should know the I need an expensive guitar but do I really? Wood, playability and pickups are what it comes down to in my opinion... not too much more gets picked up by the mic and VH had no problem getting wicked tone from his early crappy frankenstrats. For 200$ these could be a steel (or steal :P).

Fair enough, but people seem to consistently have better things to say about these than Fender and epiphones lower lines.. in fact, some reviews put them up there with epiphones more expensive lines. On the finish alone, what do you think of the look of these? I am tempted just to see what they sound like and give em a good whirl. (with soundclips of course)

Am I the only one who thinks these look nicer than Agile's? They have a nicer flame top I find.

I have an older Agile Goldtop... very nice guitar. Even though the newer models don't have as nice a headstock shape I'd sooner have one of them than one of those x-things... no offence intended but that headstock is pretty boring. Besides, the Agiles seem to be pretty good bang for the buck, especially if you shell out for a higher-end model like a 2500 or 3000 series guitar. Also, in terms of finish, a lot of the spalted Agiles look pretty damned nice.

100% agree on the headstock issue.. they suck. I had a look at the other Agile models that i had not seen before. The 3000's lok pretty nice and the headstock just gives it that look. Also looks as if the electronics are good.. how was shipping and duties on that Agile?

I don't know the guitars, but have used their pickups. Excellent value for the money. I bought the RetroTron set for my Hamer 335 copy. They don't sound exactly like the Gretsch toasters, but they do have some jangle with a nice balance. I can get some really nice brown sugar tones and some great rock sounds, too.

You know, it's murder what you're doing...I'm trying to convince myself I really don't need an Agile but you're not helping ;)

Had a look at the Agile's just yesterday on Rondos site. Almost put in an order for a AL-2000 Nat. Spalted. Should I or shouldn't I? For under $300 delivered it might well be work it what? Insert opinions here.................

I can't comment on the quality of either of these, but I think Agile is pretty well known now with a pretty good rep, so if the time comes when you decide to sell it, you probably wouldn't take as big a hit.

I was checking out the same guitar earlier this week. Seems like the nicest one in that price range.
In any case, I'd go for it if you can afford the extra expense. Agile's get good reviews and it's about the same price I'd pay for a comparable guitar here in Korea (where that one was made).
I think the xaviers are going more for a zemaitis kind of vibe the pinched waist les paul and the older shell tops I would have bought one if they did a metal top

Ya one huge benefit these guitars have is the pickups they come with. The hardware is pretty decent as well. On top of that I have heard they are on par quality wise with the Agile's etc. Even on the Agile forums where they seem to only like Agile lol.
