I'm looking to replace the stock speaker in my Traynor YCV40 and I'm pretty settled on the Ceramic Blue Dog. The question I have is, which power rating should I got with? I don't want the speaker to be too stiff and affect the amp's ability to push the cone, but I also don't want to blow the speaker. Will the 50 watt version be enough, or should I go for the 75 watter?

Also, any idea where I can find one for sale in Toronto?

The 50 watter is lots, they are overbuilt speakers. I don't think there are any Ontario dealers anymore, but i'm not sure. I usually order directly from Weber, they ship Fed Ex so the brokerage fees are reasonable, and you can choose your doping, etc. It takes about 4 weeks, though.

Ok, so that's problem number one. Now, what does this doping business have to do with it? How is it going to affect my tone?

Go to Weber's site...they explain doping in detail.

I ordered my Weber through Geek (Gregg). He has also been very helpful in answering many of my electronics and amp related questions. Great guy !!

When I asked Ted what would be his equivalent to a Celestion Gold, he advised me to go for a 75W BlueDog--increased power handling should translate into smoother response. WRT doping, go with his "pre-Rola" treatment on the BlueDog. I've got a 75W (alnico) BlueDog with pre-Rola treatment in my BrownNote D-Lite 1-12 combo and it is outstanding.
