This guy started selling tube modules he makes on eBay, 40$ for the non-switchable, and 65$ for the switchable. They put out about 3 watts, depending on the type of 12ax7 used.

So, what do you think? Have any of you ever tried these or something similar?

Yeah, I'd love to try it out with a variety of 12ax7s. It seems like a better buy than the GT ones that use EL84s, especially the Hush Puppy 2. But, at 65$ each for the switchable one, or even 40$ for the non-switchable ones, I wonder if I shouldn't just buy a Weber Mass because I'm interested in these to reduce the volume of my 100watt amp.

Yes, I forgot about those...these use EL84 tubes, just like the GT 929-PR. The Hush Puppy use a 12ax7, which apparently further quiets down the amp. So, you use Yellow jackets? How do you figure they compare to a power attenuator or these other adaptors?

I have never used them, but have always wanted to. I have EL84 powered amplifiers, and they are quite powerful (Vox AC30, Traynor YGM-1 Guitarmate Reverb). I wanted to put the YJ's in my Marshall Bluesbreaker, but I'm not sure they'll fit.

I have the Groove Tube ones in my JTM-45 Reissue. I really like what they do, and I don't find the amp turns into an EL-84 sounding amp. The inherent sound qualities of the JTM-45 are still there, plus I get to run it at 6-7 for a great tone. These 12ax7 ones look interesting, but I'll wait for someone else to try them. I'm quite happy with the results I'm getting with the Substi-Tubes.

Seems like these won't work with EL84 amps :(

The difference here, is that you can go from 40-50 watts to 15-20 watts with yellow jacket, whereas you go can go down to 3 watts with a hush puppy.
